ANIMAL FARM

Last few weeks we studied short story entitled animal farm written by George Maxwell. Interesting story I would say especially the selection of animals characters to represent human attitude in real life. I agree that when human could not react as human, they will be exactly like animals. I liked the portrayal of characters in the story such as the Major, Napoleon, Snowball and Boxer. Major, Napoleon and Snowball are pigs, a species in the farm that control the life circle of other animals there. Major was seen as a dictator in the story as he delivered his speech at the beginning of the story, in intention to unite all the animals in the farm. Similar to other human dictators in the world, the Major used his leadership to convince other animals about their rights and potential to change their bad condition to better and the spirit bloomed until at the end of his life. As a whole, this short story indirectly tells the reader about the value of human that keep deteriorating everyday. George Maxwell tried to be cynical towards leaders in the world regarding their responsibilities towards nation as what they had promised during campaign. Believe or not, in real life many leaders are corrupted by their empty promises, bribe, scandal but they still rule the countries and manipulate the citizens to conceal their agenda. For the reason that, I agree with George Maxwell ideas that; when human cannot react as human, somehow they are like pigs or worse than that.
